Many changes will take place in health care services in Josephine
County in 2006. PCN will focus on solutions to the following issues
:
Abuse of methamphetamine and other substances
Mental health services
Cost and availability of medications
Reducing the cost of general health care
Reduction of barriers to health care
Support of providers and assistance with recruitment
Reduction of the effects of poverty
- Wellness on Wheels brings
preventative care and screenings, immunizations, nutritional counseling,
wellness classes, health education and drug and alcohol prevention
awareness to the community. The WOW is a thirty-one foot recreational
vehicle donated by local businessman Giff Gates, outfitted with
medical and dental equipment, and staffed by local health and dental
professionals.
- Intensive care for outpatient and inpatient as well as at-risk
mothers will be the focus of this task force. Services including
drug and alcohol counseling, mental health, contraception, parenting
classes, domestic violence, and family counseling will be developed
throughout Josephine County.
- PCN will explore ways to enhance partnerships, create sustainability,
and seek grant funds to match the mission and vision of the organization.
Individuals or organizations seeking to be a part of the solution
are welcome to join PCN. Monthly membership meetings offer an opportunity
to network with other providers, share programs, and work as partners
to solve health care concerns.
